Whether you’re an existing patient with a question or a new patient wondering if you (or your child) qualify for treatment, a virtual screening saves you a trip. It’s a favorite of busy parents, New Braunfels commuters and military families sorting out care around a move. Snap the photos, tell us your concerns, and Dr. K takes it from there.
How It Works
Step 1: Take Your Photos
Ask someone to help you replicate the five example photos below using any smartphone or digital camera. Sit in a well-lit room; a helper makes the angles much easier than selfies.
Step 2: Submit the Form
Upload all five photos using the secure form on this page and describe any concerns about your smile or bite.
Step 3: Dr. K Reviews With You
Dr. Kalakech reviews your photos before your scheduled virtual appointment and walks you through what she sees and what your options look like.
How to Photograph Your Smile
- Right bite - bite down normally on your back teeth, pull your right cheek back, photograph the right side.
- Center smile - bite down, biggest smile you’ve got, straight on.
- Left bite - same as the right, other side.
- Upper arch - head back, capture the full upper arch (face a window or use a flashlight).
- Lower arch - chin down, capture the full lower arch.

What Happens After Your Virtual Consult?
If treatment looks worthwhile, we’ll book your free in-office visit for records: a quick iTero® digital scan and X-rays that turn the screening into a real plan. If it’s not the right time, Dr. K will say so, and tell you what to watch for. Either way, you’ll know where you stand without leaving home.

Yes, like every first consultation at Embrace, virtual or in-office. There’s no obligation; it’s a screening designed to give you honest information.
Do phone photos work well enough for an orthodontic screening?
For a first look, absolutely. Clear phone photos let Dr. K assess alignment, spacing and bite well enough to tell you whether treatment is worth exploring. Diagnosis-grade records come later, in office.
Can existing patients use the virtual consult for a quick check?
Yes. If something feels off between visits, a wire concern or a shifting retainer fit, photos through this form often answer it without an extra trip.
