What to Expect
When you arrive, let our front desk know you’re here; we can’t wait to welcome you. Dr. Kalakech conducts the full orthodontic examination personally and explains every aspect of what she sees, no hand-offs, no hard sell. The initial exam answers five questions:
- Is there an orthodontic problem, and if so, what is it?
- When is the right time to begin treatment?
- What type of treatment is indicated?
- How long will treatment take?
- What will the treatment cost?
Sometimes the honest answer is “nothing yet”; younger patients often join our free supervisory program instead of starting treatment. When treatment is indicated, we move to records.
Diagnostic Records
Records give Dr. K the full picture: a digital iTero® scan of your teeth (no putty impressions), panoramic and cephalometric X-rays with tracings, and photographs. If time allows, records can be taken the same day as your first visit, saving you a trip. Dr. K studies them and designs your personalized treatment plan.
Your Investment, Spelled Out
Cost depends on the severity and complexity of your case, so your number is quoted after your exam. Your treatment fee includes your records and X-rays, all appliances, and every office visit, and your first set of retainers for comprehensive treatment patients. Our treatment coordinator reviews the fee and all payment options during the initial consultation, including flexible plans to fit your budget and insurance assignment for most plans. Transferring from another orthodontist, whether across Texas or across the country? We handle transfer patients regularly; bring or send your records and we’ll take it from there.

What should I bring to a first orthodontic appointment?
Your completed online intake form (or arrive a few minutes early to do it in-office), your insurance information, and any recent dental X-rays if your dentist provided them. Bring your questions too; the visit is built for them.
Will treatment start at the very first visit?
Not typically. The first visit is for examination and honest answers; when treatment is indicated, records come next, then a records review where your full plan and exact fee are presented. Some steps combine on the same day when schedules allow.
Can both my kids be evaluated in one trip?
Yes, just tell us when booking so we reserve time for each. Sibling evaluations back-to-back are a parent favorite, and both consultations are free.
