Is it normal for a 15-year-old to just be getting braces?
Completely. Eleven to fifteen is the most common treatment window, and plenty of teens start at 15, 16 or later. What matters is the bite, not the birthday, and a free exam tells you exactly where your teen stands.
How long do teens usually wear braces?
Most comprehensive teen cases run about 18 to 24 months, and teens often finish faster than adults thanks to growth and metabolism. Consistent elastic wear and intact appliances are the two things that keep a teen on the fast end of that range.
Will braces interfere with playing an instrument?
There’s an adjustment period for wind and brass players, usually a week or two, and orthodontic wax smooths the transition. Plenty of our patients march with the band all through treatment.
Will my teen need teeth pulled to get braces?
